About us

WHO WE ARE

TCAH’s beginnings were undeniably modest—Dr. Melony Samuels, TCAH’s CEO and Founder responded to the needs of one single mother struggling to feed her four children. She would later serve 50 families in a church basement in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. Fast forward 23 years to today, TCAH is one of NYC’s food security champions, serving over 2 million New Yorkers a whopping 35 million nutritious meals annually and counting since the
onset of the pandemic.

Despite this enormous growth, TCAH has remained true to its mission to empower its clients and provide them the targeted services they need with dignity. A large part of this approach, and our success, involves attending to the needs of our clients from a holistic perspective. We match them with the services that keep them fed and uplift them out of poverty, putting them on pathways to mobility and self-sufficiency.

We acknowledge that hunger and poverty are complex problems that, while aren’t intractable, don’t always come with an easy, one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, we offer programs that profoundly impact the lives of the vulnerable individuals and families we serve by complementing one another and addressing the root causes of poverty.
